| The Albertsons
distribution center is part of the supply chain services of
SUPERVALU. Their distribution business is the supply chain
backbone for grocery retailers around the country as well as
their retail operations. SUPERVALU operates one of the largest
grocery supply chain network in the country. The Albertsons team
awarded the roof contract to FC & Sons Roofing, Inc, which meant
to assume the responsibility to repair the leaks on the fresh
foods building totaling 10,000 square feet and eliminating
existing vapor barrier issues with air and water leaks. Albertsons distribution center was experiencing extensive roof damage due to large freezer units which developed condensation. The condensation was causing ice buildup in freezers and producing damages. Upon inspection, FC & Sons Roofing discovered water damage at the expansion joints that run parallel to the walls of existing building. The scope of the project included the removal of all loose gravel and abandoned equipment including metal coping, counter flashings, expansion joints, pipe flashing and any other metal debris or materials as preparation for commercial roof installations. Plastic sheeting was installed to all equipment as preventive measures against damage during commercial roofing installation. Areas of concerns were addressed by installing new polyisocyranurate insulation with a rugged, crush resistant Structodek (R) board to match existing roof levels and straighten weak structure. This high density composite roofing board is fire retardant and will adhere to roof decking to meet the wind uplift codes. Installation concluded by applying asphalt emulsion to entire roof surfaces (field) followed by a layer of a reinforced polyester membrane. After curing phase, a seamless composite roof membrane was applied to all surfaces. The last phase included final details such as installing all metal flashings (expansion joints, storm collars, drain rings, etc.) and finally adding a cool roofing coating which will extend the life of the roof, lighten the stress loads of the roof and will meet California Title 24 Cool Roof Systems while reducing energy costs. To combat extreme weather conditions you need a roofing contractor that is formulated to handle harsh conditions. FC & Sons Roofing is setting the standards for long term performances in extreme environments.

| When we first heard about
the Sanitation district, we thought to ourselves, what exactly
is it they do? Well, the districts protect public health and the
environment through innovative and cost-effective wastewater and
solid waste management, and in doing so convert waste into
resources such as reclaimed water, energy and recycled
materials. The sanitation district employs many contractors over the years and FC & Sons Roofing will get another opportunity to provide excellent service. FC & Sons Roofing was awarded the contract to install a new roof to the electrical building and office buildings of the Long Beach facilities. This project included 7,600 sq. ft of roofing which upgraded or delivered a 20 year roof system. The new roof system will allow them to upgrade or remodel the facilities without any worries of water damage. The preparation began with the removal of all gravel at all penetrations and throughout the entire roof areas. We followed by installing plastic to all areas such as walls, Air Condition units and box penetrations to prevent over spraying equipment or property followed by pressure washing the membrane. After membrane dries a layer of polyester was set into asphalt emulsion and allowed to cure. The next phase was to spray two passes of a seamless composite roof membrane consisting of a mixture of asphalt emulsion and fiberglass to all surfaces. After membrane cures, the cool roof coating is sprayed applied as per manufacturers recommendations. The cool roof coating will meet California title 24 and will keep the roof cool. The highly emissive roofing materials that stay 50 to 60 degrees F cooler than a normal roof under a hot summer sun will certainly help the Sanitation district for the years to come.
